Default Vanquishing Mineral Springs a.k.a. how to kill a bunch of Ice Imps

Anyone got any suggestion on how to vanquish Ice Imp cave, I can easily vanquish entire Mineral Springs with my standard vanquishing build (me as a hammer warrior, 1 hero MM, 2 SF heroes, 2 hench healers and 2 random henches depending on who is available as henchman) but once I get in the Ice Imp Cave I get massacred, those little buggers cast a bunch of Maelstroms and Mind Freezes so my entire party gets stuck in the middle of Maelstroms, and of course as a result we get wiped.

The best advice I have is, if you can, make sure you have Defend Droknar's Forge active. If you do, no ice imps in the cave. No ice imps FTW. (Now that I think of it, there may be a small handful in the northern part of it, but nothing like usual). Anyway, if I'm with H/H, I'd much rather face titans than ice imps, hands down.

If you don't have the quest active, if you have a team build that can clear Talus Chute or Ice Floe, it should work in the ice imp cave. To get through those other areas with lots of imps, I had no special team build (fire ele with H/H), but I found that sending in an army of minions to take the brunt of the Maelstroms usually helped a lot, as did constantly kiting as much as possible (considering the Mind Freezes) to get the H/H to move out of the high damage areas. Someone who cleared Mineral Springs without DDF may be able to give more concrete advice. Good luck.

You should also use the terrain to your advantage. Block the ice imps, so that they cannot attack your casters.

They will still try it and ball up at your position, that's just the right moment for a meteor shower or Spiteful Spirit.

Dazing the imps and spread the condition with epidemic (if most/all of them ball up at one position) also helps a lot. An interrupt mesmer who is able to spam interrupts is not a bad choice, too.

If you try to tank the imps, you might need a bonder. They use water magic but it can still kill you quickly as there are many of them. And you must stand in the maelstrom or they loose aggro and go for your casters...

Thats right. Although a minion master was a bad choice for me, since the Mursaat raped the minions apart, they don't leave many corpses, too. Leaving the MM as a useless hero. (speaking about Ice Floe) I'm not sure how this will work in Mineral Springs, if he tries to tank. Minions tend to spread around in the area and some ice imps might abandon their position, giving them the opportunity to attack the casters. But still not much of a threat, if the maelstrom was casted at the minions or the tank.

Blocking the imps only works to a point. Right near the end by the Seer it can get incredibly cramped... ended up with 4 Maelstroms on my head at 1 point from 2 or 3 mobs (we got annihilated).

You should be able to do it with a hammer warrior (tried Earth Shaker?) if you lure properly. If the worst comes to the worst... just have enough gold spare, and keep a hero without a res (the MM) flagged back if you keep getting wiped. That way you'll never hit 60dp and get returned to town so you can just keep throwing youself at them till they're all dead.

I used 1 Light of Deliverance Healer, Minion Master and a Broadhead Arrow Ranger, with the 2 Monk, the Necromancer and the Elementalist henchmen, and myself as Sword Warrior using a Dragon Slash Build, "Watch Yourself!" and "Save Yourselves!" at the minimum level.xD
Flag henchmen back, take the first aggro to take the initial spike, then let the henchmen run in. Keep up "Save Yourselves!" as much as possible to keep some aggro on you and protect the henchmen.=P

Once you get to the Statue of Lyssa buy a Holy Blessing to make the last part even easier.XD
